Microids and Dynamic Planning have just announced they’ve signed an agreement involving the license for the classic anime and manga series from the 70’s, UFO Robo Grendizer. That’s right, we’re eventually getting an action-packed Grendizer game for PC and consoles, allowing us to relive the adventures of yesteryear which saw Prince Duke Fleed and his powerful combat robot battling evil.
Most people associate robot antics with Transformers or Gundam, but just forget them for a moment as Go Nagai’s UFO Robo Grendizer takes its place in the spotlight. First produced roughly 45 years ago, the cult animated series was one of the first successful exports of Japanese animation around the end of the 1970’s – known better as Force Five: Grandizer in the United States. Fans of the series will fondly remember the iconic battles as well as the Grendizer’s weaponry that’s used to defeat King Vega’s villainous forces. Without the Grendizer’s combat abilities, King Vega would have continued launching attacks on Earth from its secret base hidden on the dark side of the moon.
Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids declares: “We are delighted about this new partnership with Dynamic Planning. Through the development of this title, Microids wishes to offer a video game aimed to please the fans of the franchise. All the teams at Microids are working hard to ensure the game will showcase the highest fidelity. We are really proud and excited to show you more in the future.”
“Reliving the adventures of Grendizer with the help of today’s technology is a dream come true. I am very happy with the signing of this publishing partnership and I can’t wait to put my hands on the video game” says Go Nagai, creator of UFO Robo Grendizer.
Well, at least we know the Grendizer game is in the pipeline, but you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled for more gameplay details and a release date. Are you ready for the legendary comeback?
